Rob Enderle is apparently under the impression that iPhones will cause accidents because of their lack of keyboards and that will lead to class action lawsuits. Rob Enderle is a tool.

He kinda redeems himself in the embedded article:
Despite his criticisms, Enderle believes that Apple does have a hit on its hands, but that the average consumer shouldn't be in line next Friday; Enderle said that he has heard next generation iPhones will be out by October and could deliver a better product at a cheaper price.
"You don't need to be the first one on the block to get these phones. Sit for a minute," he said. "Eventually I think Apple's got a winner here. It may take two or three versions to work out the bugs."
Still, bringing up class-action lawsuit before the product is even out...sorta jerkish.

Agreed. What silly advice! He tells the people who would ideally be joining in the class-action suit not to wait in line for an iPhone, and then he gets in line first for the class-action suit! Who does he think is going to join that suit if nobody has one yet?

I don't think that counts as redeeming oneself at all. The two things he mentioned there are based on common sense and conjecture, not knowledge or foresight. He has "heard" new models will be out in October? Oookkkkk... he must be the only person in the world outside of Apple who gets access to this information. They are not so bad at keeping secrets over there you know. And as for taking two or three versions to work out the bugs, of course... just like every other product.
This man is not a reporter.

He's only an "analyst" because he calls himself one. He has branded himself as "The Enderle Group," and has been analyzing the contents of his stool for several years now. His predictions, criticisms, comments...pretty much everything he's ever written...has been so painfully bad (and wrong) it's a wonder anyone still quotes him.

Hahahahaha! Good one, tcervo! You're my hero. ;)

I haven't heard October as a Rev. 2 release date for iPhone, but some people are thinking MWSF might have something in store...
As far as the class-action suit goes. 1) Even with a "normal" cell phone you shouldn't be texting and driving, it's just common sense. 2) No one is forcing anyone to buy an iPhone - let alone text while you drive with it.

Yeah, I seeded the article that prompted Gruber's response. My comment on Enderle:
****
Enderle raises the fear that Apple may face class action lawsuits from kids who get into car accidents due to having to look at their iPhone keypad while texting while driving.
(Enderle obviously knows very little about most judges in this country. Such a class-action lawsuit would be dismissed almost immediately on any number of counts.)
He raises the uncertainty that the glass screen might be prone to breaking.
He raises the doubt that the first generation iPhone will be worth owning so you might want to hold off for cheaper, better 2nd generation iPhones that he's "heard" will be released in October.
FUD.
